FlightScope Mevo Gen2 vs. Mevo+ Review
The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 and Mevo+ are both fantastic products in the personal launch monitor market, but they cater to slightly different needs and budgets. The Mevo Gen2 is a newer, more compact model with a launch price of $1,199 that slots between the original Mevo, priced at $315, and the Mevo+, currently selling for $1,895. It can be used indoors or outdoors, offers portability, pro-level tracking, golf simulation with eight TruGolf E6 premium courses, and great value. It is designed for golfers who want robust data and simulation features without stepping into the higher price brackets. In contrast, the Mevo+ is FlightScope’s more established premium option, priced higher, and offering more professional features relevant for teachers, coaches, and club fitters, along with a more complete data set.
Both models utilize FlightScope’s Fusion Tracking technology, which combines 3D Doppler radar with high-speed image processing to provide accurate data indoors and out. The Mevo Gen2 tracks 18 data parameters, including carry distance, roll distance, total distance, ball and club speed, smash factor, horizontal and vertical launch, spin rate, spin axis, apex height, flight time, lateral long, angle of attack, and shot type. For chipping, it provides all of the above except shot type, and for putting, it provides launch speed, total distance, and ball direction.
The Mevo+ comes standard with 17+ core parameters, including: ball speed, club head speed, smash factor, carry distance, launch angle, spin rate, apex height, flight time, angle of attack, spin loft, launch direction, spin axis, roll distance, total distance, lateral landing, shot dispersion, and shot type. It can be upgraded via the Pro Package and Face Impact Location software to include 11 additional advanced data points, such as face-to-path, face to target, dynamic loft, club path, vertical swing plane, horizontal swing plane, low-point, vertical descent angle, curve, club speed profile, and club acceleration profile. This upgrade comes at an additional cost of around $1,000, which further solidifies the Mevo+ further in the professional-use category.

In terms of hardware, the Mevo Gen2 has a notable edge in portability and battery life. It offers up to six hours of battery life and supports USB-C fast charging, making it an excellent option for golfers on the go. The Mevo+, while still portable, typically gets around three hours of battery life and can be more finicky if left plugged in for extended periods. Physically, both devices are compact and fit easily into a golf bag, but the Gen2’s lighter and more modern design gives it a practical advantage for frequent use.
When it comes to simulation, the Mevo Gen2 shines by including lifetime access to the FS Golf and FS Skills apps, along with a bundled E6 Connect package that includes eight virtual golf courses—no ongoing subscription required. Unlike Mevo+, the Gen2 does not include the environmental optimizer, as D-plane is not available. Additionally, it does not include the club optimizer programs, as Pro and Face Impact software are not available. The Mevo+ also includes FS Golf and FS Skill, but it comes standard with 12 E6 courses. Both units feature Shot Tracer and Multicam and allow for third-party course play software, including E6 Connect, GSPro, Awesome Golf, TGC 2019, and Creative Golf.

Performance-wise, the Mevo+ is still widely regarded as a highly accurate launch monitor, with carry distances and ball data closely matching that of much higher-end devices. However, it can be more sensitive in indoor setups, particularly when tracking spin axis or club face data, unless you're using radar-friendly balls like the Titleist RCT or applying metallic dots. The Mevo Gen2, with newer hardware and software improvements, performs impressively close to the Mevo+ in many areas.
Overall, the Mevo Gen2 offers a compelling balance of value, performance, and convenience. It’s ideal for most golfers who want pro-level data tracking without ongoing fees or complex setup. The Mevo+, while more expensive and sometimes more demanding in terms of space and setup, remains a powerful tool, particularly for players, coaches, teachers, and club fitters who want in-depth club data and are willing to invest in upgrades. For most users, though, the Gen2 may represent the better all-around value.
